Who We Are
Thread Paper Goods is run by a wife-and-husband team (but mostly the wife!). I'm Tiffany. I designed the Letterbooks, and I act as creative director, author of the blog posts, and manager of the day-to-day operations of the website, sales, and fulfilling orders. My husband, Adam, and I have two little boys, Truman and Arthur, and a daughter, Nelle.
Shortly after the birth of my first child in 2012, I knew I wanted to write him letters. Even as a newborn, it seemed like he was growing so rapidly! Technology made it quick and easy to snap a photo and post it to Facebook, but preserving memories and telling stories that way lacked the magical quality of putting pen to paper. I looked everywhere for a high-quality journal that was large enough to last several decades. The best one I found cost nearly $200 and looked like it belonged on an old man's library shelf: leather-bound and stern.
Though it wasn't exactly what I'd wanted, I used the journal to write a letter to Truman every three months or so. Each time I told a friend about my epistolary tradition, the idea was met with delight. In 2016, I decided I could design a beautiful, substantial journal myself, and offer new mothers the chance to tell their stories to their children over the course of a lifetime.
Thread is committed to sustainability and social justice. Our products could be created at a much lower cost overseas, but we ultimately determined that responsible capitalism involves partnering with suppliers who share our values. Our Heirloom Letterbooks were designed and manufactured in the United States. Both our paper and our printing partner are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. In the future, look on our blog for profiles of some of our fabulous suppliers!
